Petition Particulars:
Recalling Of MP For Voting Yes On Finance Bill 2024.
The Letter:
To Whom It May Concern, We, the undersigned, hereby petition for the removal of office for the member of national assembly Protus Akuja Loima Uda of Constituency constituency, Party party that voted “yes” the finance bill 2024. As citizens of Kenya, we are compelled to remind you of the solemn responsibilities outlined in our constitution, particularly Article 1, which unequivocally declares that all sovereign power belongs to the people of Kenya. Article 1 of the Kenyan Constitution underscores the fundamental principle of sovereignty, emphasizing that it is vested in the people and not in any individual or institution. This foundational principle implies that those elected to represent us in parliament are entrusted with a sacred duty to serve the interests of the Kenyan people above all else. Contrary, you went ahead to serve your own interests. Voting for the finance bill 2024 has brought into question the commitment of Protus Akuja Loima Uda to uphold this constitutional mandate. The support for the introduction of taxes on the minimum top-up tax, and advanced pricing agreements, among others would lead to over taxation and high cost of living. It has led us to believe that unethical behavior and neglect of public duty have eroded the trust and confidence that we, the people, have placed in you. Despite the occurrence of massive demonstrations by the middle class, the low-class and, not leaving behind Gen Z people, it is disheartening to witness Protus Akuja Loima Uda supporting the finance bill. Engaging in actions that do not reflect the opinion of Constituency constituency does not make our country a democratic nation. The blatant disregard for the rule of law and the interests of Kenyan citizens undermines the very essence of democratic governance. Therefore, as concerned citizens and staunch advocate for justice and good governance, we urged you and your fellow members of parliament to reflect deeply on your obligations under Article 1 of the Constitution. Your primary duty was to serve the people of Kenya with dedication, honesty, and diligence. We expected you to champion our interests, protect our rights, and act as responsible stewards of our collective well being. Your vote for the finance bill 2024 will cause significant harm to our community and undermined the trust we placed in you when electing you to represent our interests. It is clear that your continued presence in office is detrimental to the values and integrity we expect from our elected officials. Please consider stepping down following the removal of office for the greater good of our constituency and the nation to restore accountability to our democratic process. Sincerely, Concerned Kenyan June 25th 2024
